Instructor Certification Program Deadlines

May 3, 2011

The new Instructor Certification Program (ICP) was announced several months ago; it enables dedicated Gracie Jiu-Jitsu practitioners from anywhere in the world to pursue the dream of becoming a Certified Instructor and teaching the Gracie Academy proprietary programs in their communities. Although much of the instructor training is now done online through Gracie University, all ICP candidates must come to the Gracie Academy in Torrance, CA for their Final Evaluation before they get certified. The next ICP Final Evaluation is scheduled for July 29-30, 2011. If you are interested in participating in the upcoming Final Evaluation, there are a few dates that you must be aware of:

ICP Enrollment Deadline: May 8, 2011
If you have passed the Blue Belt Test with a score of 90 or greater, and you aspire to become a certified GJJ instructor, you must submit the online inquiry no later than Sunday, May 8, 2011. This will ensure that you have enough time to complete the online portion of the ICP before coming to California for the Final Evaluation. If you have not passed your Blue Belt Test (90+) and submitted your inquiry by May 8, you will not be eligible to participate in the July 2011 Final Evaluation, but, you will have an opportunity to inquire and complete the ICP at a later date.

ICP Video Submission Deadline: June 30, 2011
For those of you who have already qualified for the ICP and are going through the online instructor lessons, you have to submit your videos within 60 days of getting access to the material. For those of you that get access to the material, after April 30th, the absolute last day you can submit your Phase 2 Teaching Proficiency Videos is June 30, 2011 (no exceptions). If you fail to submit your videos by this date, you will not be allowed to participate in the July Final Evaluation. Instead, you will be allowed to come out for the next ICP Final Evaluation, tentatively scheduled for Winter 2011.
