Instructor Certification Program - Now Open

August 28, 2011

Important Deadlines

The new Gracie Academy Instructor Certification Program (ICP) is broken down into multiple phases, the most important of which is the Live Evaluation that takes place at Gracie Academy Headquarters in Torrance, CA. The next Live Evaluation is scheduled for January 27-28, 2012. If you've already passed the blue belt test with a score of 90 or greater (or are on track to do so) and you aspire to become a Certified Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Instructor, please take note of the important deadlines below.

SEP. 9 - Blue Belt Qualification Deadline
September 9, 2011 is the last day for you to submit the Blue Belt Qualification Test. It will take up to three weeks to grade your test, but once you pass (with a score of 90 or greater) you will need to submit the Online Inquiry immediately thereafter notifying us of your interest in becoming a Certified Instructor.

OCT. 1 - Application Submission Deadline
Once your inquiry has been approved, you will need to submit the full ICP application by no later than October 1, 2011. With your application in hand, we will run a background check to verify your eligibility for the program, and once you are approved for participation, you can pay the tuition balance and gain instant access to the 52 Online ICP Lessons.

DEC. 15 - Teach Proficiency Videos (TPV) Submission Deadline
December 15, 2011, is the absolute last day for you to upload the five Teaching Proficiency Videos to GracieUniversity.com. These videos will be used to verify your comprehension of the teaching methodologies and to assess your eligibility for participation in the Live Evaluation on January 27-28, 2012.

JAN. 27-28, 2012 - Live Evaluation at Headquarters
Assuming you pass the TPV test, you will be invited out to Gracie Academy Headquarters for the live evaluation with the Gracies. Your teaching skills will be tested in person and your performance meets Gracie Academy standards, you will qualify to establish a Certified Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Training Center in you home town.
